Having splashed my cash on a Les Paul classic I asked myself the question, was it worth it? In this case yes. If the classic were not 20 year old and in a second hand condition i would definitely say no. The newer Gibson guitars do not live up to the legendary status thrown upon them by many guitar fanatics and the admirers of Slash.
The newer models are not worth the expensive price tag given to them, partly due to the shopkeepers understanding that there is a group of wealthy beginners capable of spending ridiculous amounts to become the envy of many.
My advice, buy an Epiphone Les Paul for a fraction of the price. I guarantee you that the comfort, sound, and reliability are the same, if not better than the overpriced so called heavyweight of rock and roll guitars.
